Zac Posen’s NYFW Lookbook
So many beautiful designers showcased their collection this year for the 2017 NYFW. Notable names like Feny x Puma, Alexander Wang and Rag & Bone to name a few. Except for Zac Posen, who had a new and more refreshing perspective on this year’s collection. Instead of the runways, the fashion designer opted to shoot a look book instead. He chose to feature only two models, Kate Upton and Barbara Fialho to display his collection. Posen is extremely busy these days outside of the industry as well. Not only is he designing for his women’s clothing line he also has a documentary to be released soon. Titled “House of Z” which showcases his early days in the fashion industry and his journey thus far. He also has a cookbook coming out later this fall titled “Cooking with Zac,” all while being a reoccurring judge on the reality show “Project Runway.”
Posen is known for doing things out of the norm; some might even call him a trendsetter in the industry. Last year for NYFW he had the same idea and showcased prints of his collection in a gallery in Tribeca, reports Fashionista. He was also one of the early pioneers in skipping NYFW to head off to Paris fashion week as he did in late 2010.
Zac Posen’s main reason for creating a look book this year was to give the consumer a different experience with his clothing. He explains he wanted the gowns to “come to life,” and that is difficult to do on a runway. For emotion and the true character of the piece to be showcased a different medium needed to be used. The collection showcases everything from daily wear, to casual suits and beautiful gowns. With a color palette ranging from pastels with vintage florals to gowns in black satin. The collection is a mixture of woman’s wear from the 1950’s housewife era to your modern-day feminist.
Is Posen the only fashion designer opting for a look book rather than having a runway show? As of now, he is, but from what we have seen in the past others will soon follow suit. Browse the complete collection here.
