The Zeal Life: All Are Welcome, A Fashion Narrative on the LGBTQ Community and The Church

Pain births creativity and it has been my experience and many others who have felt the trauma of religious abuse that has inspired All Are Welcome. Places of Worship often promote All Are Welcome in, but possess an ulterior motive that entails the long-term hope of changing the sexual and or gender identities of LGBTQ persons.

Places of worship should not proclaim that All Are Welcome to their services if All Are Not Welcome to sing in the choir, head a ministry or teach Sunday School because of who they love. Do not decree All Are Welcome if queer members are the product of your love the sinner hate the sin dogma. Do not insist All Are Welcome if who the members are sleeping with is more important than their mental health or the economic and political state of the community which the church serves. Do not suggest that All Are Welcome if all comes with limitations once all enters the church doors.

Each of our highest callings is to unlearn the conditions of love placed in our heart as innately flawed people, so that we can then strive to love unconditionally. Sadly, that experience is often robbed by religious communities, which have unintenionally placed a one-sided definition of what love is. This is why 40% of homeless adolescence are LGBTQ youth. They are exiled from their homes due to their families’ extreme religious beliefs. Fortunately, churches across the nation are now opening their doors and taking the All Are Welcome mantra seriously. LGBTQ people are not only welcomed but also affirmed in their identity. The All Are Welcome series captures the pain of rejection and the beauty of reconciliation of self.
