I have dealt with acne for most of my life, and I’ve tried everything. You name it I’ve tried it. And while my acne has slowed down since my 20’s, I still have dark spots as a reminder that a pimple once lived there. Honestly dark spots are one of my biggest insecurities and the only reason I wear foundation when going out. Although I’m becoming more comfortable in my skin, I still get discouraged when I get a blemish and it leaves a mark. I dropped by an Ulta store one afternoon and ran across the line of Mario Badescu products, and picked up quite a few items, one being the Glycolic Skin Renewal Complex moisturizer.

Glycolic is an exfoliant agent and is great for oily skin types –like mine– that need consistent exfoliation. It is a part of the AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) family, so it works to remove dead skin cells. When oily skin builds up faster than you can remove it, it results in clogged pores that lead to acne. Glycolic helps to maintain that build up. Mario Badescu’s Glycolic Skin Renewal Complex is a great mix of Glycolic and moisturizing agents. Vitamin A, Papaya and Honey extract are a few of the properties that aid in revealing a softer complexion and slowly fade dark spots.

In my experience with the product, you don’t want to overuse it if you have oily skin because it is so moisturizing it can be counterproductive to the results you’re aiming towards. Instead, use once a day and never combine it with other exfoliants or strong facial treatments. Always test a little before you commit. This is my experience with the product, but we all have different skin types.

Let me know if you’ve tried it and your results in the comments.
